Some climb the ladder of success only to find it was leaning against the wrong wall. You have likely heard this quoted in a variety of ways. Basically, it carries the idea of working hard to reach a goal, only to find it failed to meet your personal expectations. Most of us have experienced the sickening disappointment of investing time, energy and financial resources in that which was void of any satisfaction. We will never find this to be true of our work for the Kingdom of God.
In fact, the opposite is true. As the old spiritual hymn says, It gets sweeter as the days go by. Keep on climbing Jacob’s ladder. You’ll be glad you did!
