Jim and Carol Cymbala began their ministry in a struggling church in downtown Brooklyn, New York. Desperate and on the verge of quitting, Pastor Cymbal felt led to begin a prayer service and establish his church on the foundation of prayer. Such was the feeble beginning of the astonishing growth of Brooklyn Tabernacle. From 20 attending in 1971, this inner-city church now has over 10,000 attending services each week. Pastor Cymbala insists that prayer is the engine that drives the church. Whatever we do as a church and as individual Christians, we need to make sure that prayer is our priority.
