The Book of Job is quite a spiritual challenge for most. Facing tragic losses of materials and family, Job asked that most serious question we all ask of God in difficult times: Why? In the concluding chapters of Job, God finally responded to some of Job’s questions. But God’s responses simply confronted Job with questions lacking any humanly possible answers. My favorite of God’s questions is found in Job 38:8 where God asks, “Or who shut the sea with doors…? (NKJV) It is almost impossible to conceive of what keeps the oceans from overflowing. God simply said to the oceans, you can only come this far and no farther. The simple answer to the most difficult “why questions” is God.
