For a short period in seminary, I worked a night job. It was a radio paging service for professionals. The technology for direct paging was not yet available. We received calls and paged the intended recipient. The recipient would receive a radio signal to call for their message. It was great when it worked properly, but a terrible inconvenience when it did not. Sometimes phone numbers were wrong, the signal was too weak, or the client had no access to a land line to call. Prayer is a direct, open line to our Heavenly Father. No need for a third party to convey the message. The only time it does not work properly is when we fail to pray.
