There are two Biblical truths we should keep in mind in regard to our political participation. The Bible teaches us to pray for our leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-2). It is not a qualified suggestion; it is a God-given command. The Bible also reminds us that God is in control of the heart of our leaders (Proverbs 21:1). Those who say Christians cannot be involved in politics are wrong. Bending the knee on behalf of those who determine the direction of our nation is not only necessary, it is demanded. It might be better to talk politics with God than to offend some of our friends. After all, God is the One in charge.
