Proverbs 18:24 ends with the phrase: But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother (NKJV). The phrase is more than words on paper. Solomon penned the words mindful of their practical application from the life of his father, David. Just imagine the stories David must have shared with his son regarding his very best friend Jonathan. Jonathan saved David’s life on more than one occasion, warning him of the actions of his own father King Saul. Yet from his seven brothers, the bible reports only their disrespect for David. Thank God for friends who have enriched our lives, stood by us in the storms of life, and prayed for us when we were powerless. Investing in friends brings good dividends.
