You may have heard the story of Billy Graham's speeding ticket. He pled guilty, but the officer demanded he appear in court and pay the fine. Hearing the guilty plea, the judge fined him ten dollars. Suddenly, recognizing who Dr. Graham was, the judge stood to his feet, took ten dollars from his wallet, and paid the fine. You and I are guilty of sin and the penalty of sin is death. God, our judge, paid the penalty we owe by giving us His only Son. Jesus paid a debt we could not pay and gave us eternal life we do not deserve.
